The Mundan Sanskar is done in a simple and proper Vedic way:
- Pandit Ji starts with Ganesh Poojan — we pray to Bhagwan Ganesh for a good start
- Then Sankalp is done — you tell your child’s name, your gotra and the reason for the ceremony
- Navagraha Poojan is done to seek blessings from all nine planets for your child’s bright future
- The Mundan (first haircut) is done by the barber with care and safety — the hair is then offered to Maa Ganga
- After the Mundan, the child’s head is washed with Ganga Jal for purification
- Pandit Ji chants mantras for the child’s long life, good health and happiness
- At the end Aarti is done and prasad, fruits and sweets are distributed to everyone
